I come from a family where 5 out of 6 people are left-handed. (Yes I come from a small town, and no there is no inbreeding…well not in my family at least.)
For years we used to make fun of my mother for being a true LEFTY instead of being AMBIDEXTROUS like the rest of us. It takes her FOREVER to eat a meal…especially if she has to cut anything. She will hold the fork with her right hand, pin down the meat with the fork, cut it with a knife held with her left hand, then put down the knife and switch the fork over to her left hand so she can place the food in her mouth.
The rest of us, including the one and only freaky right-handed brother in the family, will hold the fork and knife in our left and right hands respectively without doing a switcheroo when we cut the meat and pop it into our mouths.
Well…apparently being left or right-handed has nothing to do with these techniques…they actually have names: American and European.
Who knew?
And for those of you who think this post has nothing to do with lesbians…think about it…I can use both my hands equally.
No loss of lesbian street cred for me today.
