As I was writing last night’s post, I had the tv on and I caught a little bit of the American Music Awards.
The 2 performances I paid attention to were Eminem‘s and Adam Lambert‘s. I’m not a big fan of either of these two artists but their performances were so shameless, I couldn’t help but pay close attention.
In the news today, critics are saying that Adam’s performance was considered to be too risque for tv. They’re complaining about how he kissed a boy, had another guy grind against his pelvis, and grabbed someone’s crotch. This was the scandal of the evening? This is what disturbed the audience and the viewers? Not the fact that Eminem’s song started off with these lyrics:
Ooww Ladies and gentlemen
The moment you’ve all been waiting for ..
In this corner : weighing 175 pounds,
with a record of 17 rapes, 400 assaults, and 4 murders,
the undisputed, most diabolic villain in the world :
Slim Shady!
I’m always shocked when people are more outraged by sexual innuendo than by blatant misogynistic violence.
Journalists are hailing Eminem’s performance as being a knockout but no one is criticizing his lyrics…meanwhile they think Adam’s set went too far?
Seriously?
WTF?
