It always breaks my heart when I see poverty stricken areas suffer even more due to natural disasters. Whether it was the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake, Hurricane Katrina in 2005, and now the 2010 Haiti earthquake; I’ve done my best to donate what I can to the Canadian Red Cross over the years. However, I thought tonight, besides donating cash, I could go one extra step…with your help.
Since I get on average about 500 visitors on this blog every month, I was thinking that if you haven’t already done so, I could ask each and every one of you to donate $10 to the Canadian Red Cross or Doctors Without Borders. Let me know you’ve donated by emailing me, and I’ll write a post and dedicate it to you.
If you donate between $20 and $50, I’ll let you pick the subject you want me to blog about and give you credit for the idea.
If you donate over $100, I’ll let you be a guest blogger on my website.
I know for a fact good people read this website so I know we can go by the honor system. I don’t require proof that you donated. I trust you.
So what say you lovely readers? Let’s see what we can do to help the Haitian people through this tragedy.

I donated my $30 through the redcross.ca website. It took seconds and I got an INSTANT TAX RECEIPT in my email box. Too easy. Maybe I should have donated more to the country? I certainly benefited from the dirt cheap labour provided by (mostly female) Haitians in the construction of softballs, Disney products and god knows what else over the years.
Anyway…

Ha! Do I have you write a piece on my favourite philosopher Luce Irigaray?? Making sure to avoid charges of essentialism? *sigh* (honestly too excited just thinking about it!)
