A few weeks ago I overheard my neighbour yelling at her boyfriend for not changing the water in the bucket he was using to clean our stairwell. When he finally did, she then yelled at him for emptying the water in the bathtub and not the toilet.

To be fair, they’ve only been living together for a few weeks, so I realize they still need to work out the kinks in their relationship. However, I object to how she treated the poor guy who was just trying to do something nice for her while she was at work.

I think it’s important to be able to decide who does what in terms of chores based on likes and dislikes. For instance, I hate drying dishes. Sunshine hates vacuuming.

If you both hate the same chore, take turns. It’s only fair.

Which leads me to la question du jour: What happens when your partner does the chore and the results don’t meet your standards?

If I ever want her to do the chore again I suck it up or at least wait until she doesn’t see that I redo. :)
